Progress over perfection.
Focus on growth rather than getting everything exactly right. Small, consistent steps matter more than perfection.
Self Care Assessment Reflection
The self-care assessment tool provided an opportunity to evaluate my current practices across physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, workplace, and balance domains. Overall, I identified strengths in my spiritual and emotional self-care. I consistently engage in prayer, reflection, and maintaining a sense of purpose, which helps me remain grounded and resilient. Additionally, I prioritize maintaining relationships with supportive individuals, which contributes positively to my emotional well-being and ability to manage stress effectively. Regular self-reflection also allows me to remain aware of my thoughts and feelings, supporting my growth as a counselor-in-training.
However, the assessment also highlighted areas for growth, particularly in physical self-care, boundary setting, and overall balance. Due to the demands of balancing my roles as a counselor-in-training, educator, and parent, I often struggle with getting adequate sleep, exercising consistently, and taking necessary breaks. I also recognize the need to improve my ability to say “no” and set limits in both personal and professional settings. To support my development, I plan to implement more structured routines, including scheduling time for rest, incorporating small, manageable physical activities, and intentionally disconnecting from work-related responsibilities. Strengthening these areas will help me maintain a healthier work-life balance and reduce the risk of burnout and compassion fatigue.

Strengths in Self Care
One of my main strengths in self-care is my spiritual and emotional wellness. I consistently make time to pray, reflect, and stay grounded in my purpose, which helps me manage stress and remain hopeful despite challenges. I also maintain strong connections with others, including family, coworkers, and peers, which provides me with emotional support and encouragement. Additionally, I engage in self-reflection regularly, which allows me to be aware of my thoughts, feelings, and areas for growth as both a counselor-in-training and educator. These strengths help me stay resilient and maintain a positive mindset, even when balancing multiple responsibilities such as work, school, and internship demands.
Growth Areas & Strategies
My main growth areas in self-care include physical wellness, setting boundaries, and maintaining balance. I have noticed that I struggle with getting enough sleep, exercising consistently, and taking time off, largely due to my demanding schedule as a working professional, student, and parent. I also find it difficult to say “no” and set limits, which contributes to feeling overwhelmed at times. To improve in these areas, I plan to implement healthier routines such as scheduling time for rest, incorporating short workouts into my week, and being more intentional about unplugging from work and technology. Additionally, I will practice setting clearer boundaries and prioritizing tasks to create a more sustainable work-life balance and prevent burnout.
